SWANCC offers a program to enlighten children about their environment with the goal of encouraging them to develop good habits and take responsibility at an early age.

“Taking Care of Our Earth” is a no-cost, interactive twenty-minute presentation that focuses on ways to reduce waste and conserve resources.  It is designed for four-year-old pre-school children and kindergarten students.

SWANCC contracts with educator Leslie Handler , who holds a teaching degree in elementary education with six years of classroom experience.  Additionally, Leslie holds a MA degree in Guidance and Counseling and teaches sign language to children who have siblings that are deaf and to interested adults.  Prior to developing the pre-school presentation for SWANCC, Leslie was SWANCC’s
part-time education coordinator and served on Lincolnwood’s School District 74 PTA Environmental Committee for nine years.  One of her duties included leading an after school ecology club for third and fourth graders.

In order to have a “Taking Care of Our Earth” presentation, a school must be located in one of the following towns:
