In 1997, November 15th was nationally established as “America Recycles Day” (ARD).  All states are encouraged to participate in activities that promote recycling and the buying of recycled products.  Visit the National ARD website at www.americarecyclesday.org for more information.

SWANCC developed two programs that received the “Outstanding Recycling Education Program Award” from the Illinois Recycling Association to be used in conjunction with ARD, or any time during the school year.

1. 1 - SWANCC’s poster-size “Recycling Facts Game” can be placed on a wall and offers a daily question (complete with answer) for a three-week period that includes a weekly activity. 

2. 2 - “Buy Recycled”, a twelve-minute video for loan, focuses on how consumer-purchasing choices impact the waste stream and encourages consumers to buy recycled-content products whenever possible.
